Washington, D.C. - Reinsurance Association of America (RAA), the leading trade association of property and casualty reinsurers doing business in the United States, today announced that William Fawcett has joined the organization as Head of ReSources and the RAA Reinsurance Education Institute where he will direct initiatives to strengthen and expand the association’s leadership role in industry education while growing and diversifying RAA’s revenue streams.
Fawcett is an accomplished industry executive with decades of global property/casualty leadership experience. Most recently, he served as Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs at GEICO and previously was Associate Commissioner for Property and Casualty Insurance at the Maryland Insurance Administration.
“Bill’s unique combination of executive industry leadership, regulatory experience, deep substantive knowledge, legal expertise and his commitment to teambuilding and industry education makes him exceptionally well suited to lead RAA ReSources,” said Tracey Laws, President and CEO, RAA. “His experience across the global reinsurance and insurance sector will enhance the educational resources we provide to the industry and policymakers.”
Fawcett also has held senior executive positions at international companies including Allianz Global, AXA, Flagstone Reinsurance Holdings SA, and Haverford Holdings where he assisted in creating and leading organizations with high performing teams.
He holds a B.A. from Colgate University, a J.D. from University of the Pacific, and completed doctoral studies in business administration at the International School of Management in Paris. He is licensed to practice law in multiple states, as well as in England, Ireland, Wales and Bermuda, and is a veteran of the U.S Marine Corps.
